Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 owners in USA will be happy to learn that the Android 4.1.1 update has finally arrived to their devices, in both the Tab 2 10.1 and Tab 2 7.0 versions. The update for the 10 inch tablet has been available in the UK for a while now and it just showed up on a WiFi model, the GT-P5113 in USA.

It’s available via both OTA and Kies and the Tab 2 7.0 (P3113) is also getting the update, through the same means. There’s no changelog available now, but we all expect the usual here: Google Now, Project Butter, enhanced performance and notifications and a bit more. If you own one of the two devices, or maybe both you can check for the availability of the update on your slate by going to Settings>About device>Software Update.

Or you can plug the tablet into the PC via USB and launch Kies, that should prompt the update. Various readers inform us that the Tab 2 7.0 loses features like the screen capture button, plus apparently the notification bar is at the top like on a phone, not in the corner lower right, like other tablets.
