This is certainly the year of gaming devices not made by big gaming companies. It seems like the Sony PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS don’t even exist anymore, with the Ouya, Nvidia Project Shield and the likes of the Razer Edge Pro tablet out there. The latter was so popular that its preoders had to be paused to catch up with demand.

And this is not a cheap product, not at all! For that kind of money, $1300 you can get a pretty solid MacBook. You can still preorder the $1000 version of the slate, but supplies for that model are limited as well. In a recent Facebook posting Razer’s Min-Liang Tan said that the company has sold out the stock for months to come and it’s trying its best to produce more units.

The Razer Edge Pro is a 10 inch tablet, one destined for gamers and it comes with a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia GT 640 MB graphics solution, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD storage. There’s also a 10.1 inch 1366 x 768 pixel display in the mix. The device runs Windows 8 and it was recently spotted running Crysis 3.
