As you may know, lately Panasonic launched a lot of rugged tablets from the Toughpad series, and today we get to know that a new model from this line was officially announced. This new device is called Toughpad FZ-R1 and it comes with support for all kinds of electronic payments, EMV support, NFC connectivity, a magnetic card reader and a PIN pad.

From the specs point of view we have a 7-inch HD display with a 1.280 x 800 pixels, an Intel Celerom N2807 clocked at 1.58 GHz, 2 or 4 GB of RAM memory, 64 GB space of internal storage, a microSD card slot up to 64 GB and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

On the connectivity side we have Wi-Fi, Bluetooh 4.0, USB 3.0, a 3.5 mm audio jack, 4G LTE optional and a dock connector. Being called an All-In-One POS device, the Toughpad FZ-R1 is designed for retail mostly and for sellers that are going to receive payments straight from the sales floor. This tablet will be available starting this Spring for a $1799 price tag (basic version).
