If until a while ago, Apple products were an inspiration mostly for the unknown Chinese producers, recently we could see how several popular companies introduced on the market device that look pretty similar with iPhone or iPad, among them being producers like Xiaomi, or even Nokia.
A very popular product from Apple that was copied a lot is also the iPad Mini tablet, device that comes with a 7.9 inch screen and a slim case. While Xiaomi announced the MiPad 7.9 tablet last year, slate that uses iPad’s design, Nokia arrived with a similar product in December, more precisely with the N1 tablet. Once with its commercial launch, the initial stock of 20.000 units was sold in just 4 minutes and 2 seconds.
In order to see how similar these products are, the guys from pad.zol.com.cn made a photo comparison between them. The first chapter had in mid was the price of the tablets. While the MiPad 7.9 costs $210, the Nokia N1 can be bought for a $260 price tag.
This price difference can be explained by the material used in the developing stage, Xiaomi adopting a polycarbonate case, and Nokia an aluminium case. In terms of dimensions, Mi Pad weighs 360 grams and measures 8.5 mm, while Nokia N1 tablet has a 318 grams weight and a 6.9 mm thickness.
Also, the specs are a starting point in such a comparison, these tablets being similar when it comes to the 7.9 inch IPS LCD display that offers a 2.048 x 1.536 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, stereo speakers, a 2 GB RAM module and a 8-megapixel rear camera.
Differences we have when it comes to CPU, Xiaomi using a quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 chip clocked at 2.2 GHz, while Nokia chosed a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. Also the battery is different (Nokia N1 – 5.300 mAh Li-Ion vs. MiPad – 6.700 mAh Li-polymer), and also the main connectivity port, Nokia arriving with a Type-C usb connector. Which one would you chose?
