It’s pretty much settled that Apple has 3 dates left this month to reveal the new iPad Pro models. It’s either 16th, 23rd or October 30. We’ve seen 3D CAD sketches of the device and now we learn that potential new iPad models have been registered in China.

2018 hasn’t yet brought us any new iPads, just new iPhones. Over the past year we kept hearing that the future iPad will have a notch, Face ID and more. The last leaks however, only showed a notch-free device and put in doubt the whole Face ID thing. Now we have fresh info from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, showing new iPad models registered.

MySmartPrice is reporting the model numbers A1876, A1980 and A1993. Apple also registered these devices with the Eurasian Economic Commission. The new iPad Pro 2018 units are a big deal, since even without a notch they’re a big design switch, with very narrow bezels and no Home button. Apple is even rumored to switch to USB Type-C, in order to offer support for external 4K displays.

A brand new magnetic connector is also rumored to replace the Smart Connector. Everything must be taken with a grain of salt, of course. I have a gut feeling that October 23rd will be the chosen date. Expect an Apple A12 or Apple A12X CPU inside.
