There seems to be raining Whiskey-U laptops this weeks and ASUS has its own models with this CPU choice. The ASUS ZenBook 2018 lineup is here, in preorder form, with the Intel Whiskey Lake-U chipsets in the mix, in the Core i5-8265U and Core i7-8565U versions.
These are 15 watt processors, which have been unveiled a few months ago, quickly reaching Dell, Lenovo and HP portable PCs. Huawei’s Whiskey Lake own model also came up recently and now the slim ZenBooks are in. Prices start at $1200 and the first model is the 14 inch Asus ZenBook 14 UX433, weighing in at 2.6 pounds. It has a 14 inch Full HD screen, a Core i7-8565U processor, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
Amazon and Newegg are both selling this device, with WiFi ac connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, IR camera with facial recognition and Windows Hello. HDMI and USB Type-C, Type-A ports are here too.
If you want a slight diagonal bump, there’s the Asus ZenBook 15 UX533 waiting for you, with a 15 inch screen and $1400 price. The Full HD res is here to stay, the CPU is A core i7 8th gen, plus 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The graphics here are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q. It weighs 3.7 pounds and it’s actually reasonably compact for the diagonal. ASUS even offers a 4K version of the machine.
A lighter and slimmer 13 inch model is also coming. The smaller model comes with the brand new ASUS NumberPad feature, which lets you turn the top right corner of the touchpad into a numeric keyboard. The 13 incher may even start at less than $900. Alexa and Cortana are both offered as voice assistants for all these laptops.
