It appears that the release of Ubuntu Touch for tablets wasn’t enough to quench the first of the fans of Linux. They may be playing with the early release of the OS on their Nexus devices, but here comes a tablet with full fledged Ubuntu, pictured below.
The Intermatrix U7 is the Ubuntu slate we’re talking about, the model being described as “first of its kind in the world”. It comes from Aussie manufacturer Intermatrix and it packs a quad core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processor, the likes of which many Android slates pack nowadays. It also comes with a quad core Vivante GC1000+ GPU, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 7 inch IPS touchscreen display and back + front cameras.
Considering how the bare minimum requirements of Ubuntu include 2 GB of RAM, we’re wondering how this model will adapt to that. Well, since the Nexus 7 was spotted running the OS, I guess it will have to do. By the way, the U7 is launching in October and hopefully Ubuntu will run smoothly on it.
