Samsung couldn’t let IFA 2014 pass without debuting a new slate, this time the Galaxy Tab Active model, a rugged slate for business users. This model comes with IP67 certification for water resistance and an anti shock coating, that allows it to survive a 1.2 meter drop.
The tablet is meant for people in the enterprise segment and Samsung claims that the inbuilt NFC connectivity is a great tool for transportation and logistics managers. The rugged nature of the device is also an advantage for retail auto sales representatives. The Galaxy Tab Active comes with a stylus, that Samsung calls the C-Pen and it’s a special accessory, that’s meant for people who wear gloves while working.
Galaxy Tab Active has midrange specs, like an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display, a Snapdragon 400 quad core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 3.1 MP rear camera, as well as 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s a 4450 mAh battery on board, good enough for 8-10 hours of usage. Android 4.4 KitKat is the OS here and the product will come in both WiFi and LTE versions, later this year.
There will be a C-Pen stylus and Protective Cover inside the box. We don’t know the pricing just yet.
