These days there’s yet another big tech show going on, this time in China and it’s called IDF 2013. Intel was also there to announce two new product formats: Ultrabook Convertible and Ultrabook Detachable, both serving as sub brands. Toshiba was in the area to take advantage of the unveiling and showcase their brand new Portege.
The Toshiba Portege Z10t is a detachable ultrabook, the same unit that hit the FCC last month. This model comes with a huge hinge sleeve, a small release mechanism placed in the middle of the hinge and a pretty slim keyboard, for the most part. There’s also a backlit keyboard and both a trackpad and pointing stick included.
The docked device doesn’t seem too top heavy and in case you’re wondering this is a 10 inch tablet with USB 3.0 port, a microHDMI and even a full size SD card slot. All of them are placed on the right side, together with the power socket, volume rocker and audio jack. This remains a bit of a mysterious product, one that we only know to feature an Ivy Bridge processor and one that will come in Q2 2013.
