HP is not happy with the way mobile devices are interacting with printers nowadays, so the company wants to ease the process, at least on Android. They want to make it seamless and reliant on a single button push.
The company announced today a brand new laser printer, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476 model, that relies on the native printing support on Android 4.4 KitKat devices. The printer starts at $529 and it’s meant for offices rather than home users. This is the very first printer certified to use the KitKat printing features.
There’s a plugin developed by the Mopria alliance doing the trick and this alliance includes big companies like Xerox, HP, Canon and Samsung. Expect them all to release printers with the KitKat support. Using the Mopria plugin, users can pass a mobile print command to the printer without a special HP printer app for example.
The new HP Color LaserJet model comes with a 3.5 inch display and printing over WiFi or NFC.
