Thought that CyanogenMod was all about smartphones? Well, here it goes and enters the world of tablets, by bringing Gingerbread to the Samsung Galaxy Tab. We’re talking about the CyanogenMod 7 version, available in a public beta version on the slate we mentioned.
Since this is a beta, you’ll proceed at your own risk, but we guess that this is as close to a software upgrade as you’re going to get, since we doubt that Samsung or your carrier will be bringing Gingerbread to the tablet anytime soon. Just look at Galaxy S and the time it’s taking for it to get Froyo…
Of course, this Gingerbread for Galaxy Tab is not 100% functional and you’ll need a GSM version of the device, one that’s European or US, but available on T-Mobile and AT&T, with JJ4 or other unprotected bootloaders. Also, the product must be able to run Euro ROMs and P1_add_hidden partitioning. More details here.
