A recent FCC filling by Novatel reveals a rugged Dell Latitude XT2 laptop, now dubbed the Latitude XT2 XFR. This is in fact a rugged tablet, that comes with a button layout similar to the one on the XT2, but as an extra, you’ll get thick rubber bumpers on the sides and a thicker monitor hinge.

Also, we find out that the new model also comes with a trackpad that will be accessible when the device is in tablet mode. Novatel describes the laptop as a “convertable Tablet PC with 850/1900 CDMA/EVDO/GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA WWAN Radio”, meaning that the device will support quite a bunch of wireless connectivity options.

The pictures showing this rugged tablet under a faucet reveal that it’ll probably also take on other elements than rough treatment from the user, maybe dust, water and vibrations.
