Many were surprised to see that Apple didn’t launch any new tablets with the iPhone XS and XS Max last month. The iPad Pro 12.9 inch new version and an 11 incher have been in the rumors for months now, but without actually becoming real. It appears that the debut is imminent and we have details below.
It’s likely that Apple will announce the iPad Pro 2018 together with the iPhone XR store debut, which is next week. The new slate will have an all screen design, no Touch ID and Home button and it’ll use Face ID. We expect narrower bezels and perhaps even glass at the back, although metal unibody is probably the way to go. Analyst have gone back and analyzed the October evens that Apple had over the past years, coming up with a pattern of sorts.
There’s been a MacBook Air unveiling in October 2010, a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and iPad 4 in October 2012, plus an iMac with Retina 5K display in 2014. 2016 had a MacBook Pro With Touch Bar, while 2015 and 2017 had zero October events. For 2018 predictions are that we’ll see either an October 9th or 16th debut, lining up with past releases. It may not even be an event, but just the official start of the sales for the Face ID iPad Pro.
We could also see a new entry level MacBook, iMac refresh and Mac Mini refresh. Wild card releases could be the AirPower, AirPods 2, Apple Pencil 2 and a new HomePod. For the new slate we expect an Apple A12X CPU inside, plenty of RAM, Apple Pencil action, quad speakers, the works. I’d also predict an Apple Pencil 2, but there was has been zero proof pointing in that direction.
