The Acer Aspire R 13 is one of the most original notebooks around, one that folds down over so it can become a tablet. Debuted at IFA 2014 last month, the product has just reached the FCC and it will be priced at $899 and up.

We’re dealing with a notebook with a touchscreen display, that can flip so it will face away from the keyboard or fold down over, so it can be held like a tablet. This unit comes with either a 1920 x 1080 pixel display or a 2560 x 1440 one, both with IPS panels. Acer also promises to offer an optional digital pen and claims the R 13 will come with your choice of Core i5 or Core i7 processor, as well as up 8 GB of RAM.

There’s SSD storage available, in flavours up to 1 TB. The display and hinge are the most unusual feats here, with Acer calling the hinge Ezel Zero. Apparently this is a 6 mode device, being both a notebook and tablet, but also offering modes like stand or tent. The formats are detailed in the image below.
