TCL brought a few new smartphones to IFA 2019, in Berlin, some under its own brand and some branded Alcatel, but they also brought a tablet. The latter is dubbed Alcatel Smart Tab 7 and it’s a 7 incher on a very low budget.

The first thing to reflect that is the screen, a 7 inch panel with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. There’s also a modest MediaTek MT8167D processor inside, accompanied by 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. Then we find a VGA camera at the back and a front 2 MP shooter, which is intended for videocalls via Google Duo.

Things are rounded up by a 2580 mAh, which sounds rather modest, even for below $100. It all runs on Android 9.0 Pie with a custom UI on top and some parental control features. Alcatel Smart Tab 7 also has Google Assistant a dedicated Kids Mode. It weighs 268 grams and integrates a kickstand at the back side.

The product becomes available this Fall, priced at $87. Expect to hear more about TCL at IFA, since they’re also rumored to showcase some foldables.
