It’s been a very long while since we last tested a big diagonal tablet and I do mean BIG, no 10 inches, but more. Today we break that hiatus with the Chuwi Hi13, a 13.5 inch machine with a pretty impressive resolution and some solid specs. It’s priced at $351.99 at Banggood.com and we also played with an accessory for the device.
We’re talking about a Folding Stand Cover, that’s priced at $19.99 and it lets you prop up the device for video watching, but also protect its screen with a thick layer of leather PU. The stand weighs 405 grams and also gives you room for a keyboard attachment. The tablet measures 9.2 mm in thickness, weighs 1080 grams, which is rather massive, but this is not the kind of device to hold with two hands for many minutes.
It’s more like a machine to prop on a stand or use on a table or some other surface. The screen is mighty impressive, at 13.5 inches and with a diagonal of 3000 x 2000 pixels, at a 3:2 aspect. The screen offers 100% sRGB color gamut and active stylus support. Inside the device there’s an Intel Apollo Lake N3450 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. On the graphics side there’s Intel Gen 9 Graphics, with DirectX 12 and 4K video decoding.
This is a Windows 10 slate, with Cortana, Office, Windows Ink and other goodies. It has a pretty impressive 10.000 mAh battery and on the connectivity front there’s WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, mini HDMI, USB Type-C and microUSB. Cameras are also here, unlikely to be used, but they’re here: 5 MP and 2 MP at the back and front respectively. I have to say that the screen is quite bright, brighter than the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and Cube i7 Remix for sure.
It’s also the loudest tablet I’ve heard, courtesy of the 4 speakers it includes. The stand cover is resilient to dirt and shocks, plus drops and has a pretty nice grip. It’s a premium accessory for sure and I think it’s a must have for this big device. I’d say this as a gaming tablet and a device vor watching video, right next to your PC, or in bed. The price isn’t half bad on Banggood.com.
This preview is in lieu of an unboxing, but we’ll be back with a full review soon.
