Wacom isn’t only a provider of high tech styli-related technology and screen tech, but also the maker of some pretty hardcore tablets for professionals, like graphic designers from this site and the works. This week they debuted the MobileStudio Pro series of slates, that aim to compete with the Surface Pro 4.
These are fully featured Windows 10 tablet PCs, with Intel processors inside and they allow professionals to run 2D, 3D and CAD applications. The slates are available in 13 inch and 16 inch configs and 6 feature setups. One can choose up to 16 GB of RAM, a 4K display, Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia Quadro graphics, as well as up to 512 GB of storage.
There’s also the optional addition of a built in Intel Real Sense camera system, as well as scanning software, ideal for product designers, CAD engineers and 3D sculptors. The MobileStudio Pro tablets have a new type of etched glass surface, that offers ideal resistance to recreate the feeling of pen and paper. Of course, we also get a new pen, the Wacom Pro Pen 2, with increased sensitivity, extra accuracy and extra responsiveness.
The Wacom MobileStudio Pro 13 has 4 models to offers, with options starting at $1499 for the 64 GB SSD unit and going to $2499 for the 512 GB model. then there’s the Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 starting at $2399 and including a 4K display. Availability is slated for November
