Chip maker MediaTek is preparing a new generation of octa core processor for debut this month, following up on its first successful octa core endeavor. The newcomer is known as MediaTek MT6595 and it’s expected to drop on July 15th.
The chip is based on ARM big.LITTLE architecture and it combines four Cortex A17 cores with another four Cortex A7 cores. The new CPU uses the MediaTek CorePilot heterogenous multiprocessing technology, that will unlock the full power of all 8 cores. This gives the chip good performance and low consumption. MT6595 comes with LTE Category 4 dual mode LTE, offering worldwide 4G network compatibility.
The chip offers support for QHD displays and also devices it will be present on will be able to record and play Ultra HD videos (H.265). It also provides support for camera sensors up to 29 megapixels and includes the usual WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GNSS on the support list. There’s also the ANT+ connectivity for pairing up with fitness trackers. Expect this solution to make it to a lot of tablets and phones this year.
