Dell isn’t particularly known for its convertibles and also not known for ultra rugged devices, but they managed to marry those concepts into a new product. Said newcomer is the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme, that’s a rugged and convertible tablet/laptop combo.
The product is supposed to survive being on the battlefield and another rugged product Dell debuted is the Dell Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme notebook. These new devices will withstand tough conditions like dust, moisture, drops, vibration, extreme temperatures and drops up to 6 feet. The products have been tested to military standards and ingress protection was also taken into account.
Hazardous material certification is also here, so this is a truly impressive unbreakable convertible and laptop. The secret behind is a bunch of impact resistant ultra polymers, sturdy magnesium alloy and sealed doors, as well as compression gaskets. Specs include up to 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of SSD, and up to 8.5 hours of functioning time for the convertible.
Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme will be priced starting at $3,649 and it will be available from May 6th.
