HP announced today more tablet/laptop hybrids and expanded its portofolio of detachable devices. I’m talking about the HP SlateBook x2 and HP Split x2, two detachable PCs that provide the full functionality of a laptop and also incorporate a tablet that can be detached.
One of the devices is based on Android and the other on Windows 8. HP SlateBook x2 is the first detachable device with Android and Nvidia Tegra 4 on board, while the HP Split x2 is based on Windows 8 and adopts a 13.3 inch diagonal and powerful Intel Core CPU. HP SlateBook x2 has a magnetic latching system and a dual battery, with a battery on the main device and another on the tablet piece. The device runs Android 4.2.2 and comes with a HD 10.1 inch display, 64 GB of storage and DTS Sound+ Solution for extra acoustic quality.
The HP Split x2 is a two in one PC, that combines the power of a work station with the portability that Windows 8 brings and also involves an Intel Core i3 CPU. Beats Audio technology is on board and there’s also an optional hard disk available here, plus a dual battery system. This device also comes with a HP TrueVision Full HD 2 megapixel camera and HP ClickPad for better tactile navigation.
The products will hit the market in July 2013.
