There are some wonderful stories out there about modern technology and how various devices got invented and one of them is related to Nvidia, apparently. Nvidia developed the Tegra 4i in just 22 days, it seems and prepared it for a demo at MWC 2013 in February this year.
We all go to MWC 2013 and CES 2013 expecting the best and would never guess how much hard work is behind the products showcased. The Tegra 4i is the first Nvidia microprocessor with a built in moden, that uses soft modem technology, that the company bought when it purchased Icera in 2011. Nvidia optimized the Tegra 4i in just 22 days, which is something they deserve a standing ovation for.
Nvidia gathered over 120 of its engineers from all over the world to work on this hardcore task and turned Tegra 4i in a reality. They managed to boot Linux really fast on the system, then added touchscreen input and then product codename Grey came to life, as the Tegra 4i. A working demo of the chip was shown at MWC, inside a reference phone called Phoenix, thanks to the engineer and design team. This Tegra flavour has 60 custom GPU cores, with a max clock speed of 2.3 GHz. It also integrates LTE and HSPA+ connectivity via a special modem.
