ASUS has just sent the following official statement (published at the end of the article), confirming that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer has started. The device gets its share of ICS as we speak and the first wave of FOTA updates for TF101 firmware v.9.2.1.11 debuted in Taiwan.
More regions will follow soon after and ASUS also promises more innovations at MWC 2012 in Barcelona next week. Tech shows must be good luck for updates, since the last time ASUS offered us something similar, the Transformer Prime got Android4.0 during CES 2012. As far as MWC 2012 goes, that where we’ll see the PadFone, the MeMo units, the upgraded Prime and who know what other goodies. In the meantime I’m happy that the well selling Eee Pad Transformer got the latest Android, since it was truly a quality slate, with great sales last year.
It’s still a pretty respectable product and with recent price drops I don’t see why you wouldn’t skip any other Galaxy Tab unit for example, to go with the Eee Pad Transformer (dock included of course). And now here’s the official ASUS statement:
