Dell didn’t bring much machinery at CES 2012, but what they did bring were promises… The US company promised to deliver its first consumer tablet in late 2012 and we must mention that Dell has been anything but impressive on the tablet market so far with the Streak line of slates being pulled off the market, as they weren’t performing at all.
Reuters is reporting that the Streak tablets were focused on business features and the clients actually had other alternatives at the time. Now they try a more consumer-oriented approach and that probably means including Android, HDMI, DLNA, multimedia top notch features, maybe some gaming and some cool accessories. A good camera won’t hurt as well… Honestly speaking, I didn’t feel the Streak line as related to the business segment at all, so maybe they screwed that one up too.
It amazes me how Dell managed to launch some very nice laptops at some point and now they’re entering the ultrabook battle with the slick XPS 13 model and yet they find it hard to create a decent smartphone and tablet. Not that HP is doing any better…
