Christmas is here early guys and gals, since we’ve just received a test unit of the ASUS Transformer Prime to play with till 2012 arrives. This is the first quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 tablet with Android and certainly a produc that we’ve been waiting for anxiously. Delayed, controversial and craved for, this slate has all it needs to generate hype and big sales. Let’s see if it delivers…
The device arrives inside a big box, that hosts both the tablet and the keyboard dock that attaches to it, giving out a total battery life of up to 18 hours, at least on paper. The tablet and keyboard look very elegant and their shiny metal coat sure feels nice to touch. Inside the box there’s also an USB cable, charger and manual, as usual. The slate takes a while to boot, as shown in the video unboxing below and you must know that the Transformer Prime runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but it’s scheduled for an Ice Cream Sandwich update in 2012.
This Nvidia Tegra 3 device also packs an 8 megapixel camera that can be seen for a while (with UI) in the unboxing and it also sports a very bright 10.1 inch display, that will get extra brightness courtesy of the Super IPS+ function that we’ll check out in the full review. Till then I have to say I’m not that impressed with the processing power and a big of lag even appeared at some point…
