REDMAGIC has officially introduced the Astra 2 Gaming Tablet to global markets, bringing its flagship Android gaming tablet outside China just a month after its domestic debut. Built around a compact 9.06-inch form factor, the Astra 2 targets mobile gamers looking for flagship performance, a high-refresh-rate OLED display and an advanced cooling system capable of sustaining long gaming sessions.

At its core is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5T RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 Pro storage. REDMAGIC also includes its dedicated RedCore R4 gaming chip, which assists with AI-powered performance optimization, 2K super-resolution rendering, customizable in-game visual effects and intelligent power management. These features are complemented by the company’s Energy Cube 3.0 software engine, designed to dynamically balance CPU, GPU, memory, cooling and touch performance to maintain stable frame rates while reducing latency and heat.

The tablet features a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 2400 × 1504 resolution, peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and ultra-thin 4.9mm bezels. Touch response is equally impressive thanks to a dedicated Synaptics controller offering a 300Hz touch sampling rate and up to 2,000Hz instant touch sampling, making the Astra 2 well suited for competitive gaming. Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with DTS Ultra certification, while dual X-axis linear motors provide enhanced haptic feedback.

One of the Astra 2’s standout features is the new AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, which REDMAGIC describes as the industry’s first liquid cooling architecture integrated into a gaming tablet. The sealed system combines an active liquid loop with microscopic flow channels, ceramic micropumps, Liquid Metal 3.0 and a large 4D vapor chamber to efficiently dissipate heat and minimize thermal throttling during demanding workloads.

The tablet houses an 8,300mAh battery with support for up to 75W fast charging, reaching a full charge in roughly an hour. A unique dual USB-C layout allows users to charge and connect wired accessories simultaneously, with support for DisplayPort output up to 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 60Hz. Additional highlights include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, an IP54-rated metal chassis with a transparent glass back, RGB lighting, Android 16 with REDMAGIC OS 11.5, a 13MP rear camera, front camera for video calls, fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

Price

The REDMAGIC Astra 2 Gaming Tablet will be available through the company’s official online store, with Early Bird Access starting on August 10, followed by open sales on August 26.
