Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 was announced this month, but it’s already breaking records, in spite of not even being on the shelves yet. The device got the fastest ever adoption rate of any Surface device so far in the business area, even though it’s shipping on the 26th.


13 customers in the big league, like educational institutions have committed to buying the Pro 4, even before it hits stores. BNY Mellon, AstraZeneca, The Carlyle Group and USI Insurance Services are some of the names who promised to adopt the product. Brighton College International, Sheffield Hallam University and University of Central Lancashire have all signed up for the Surface Pro 4 as well.

There are quite a few appealing aspects here, like the new pen and keyboard and the lower thickness of just 8.4 mm for the slate. Windows 10 on top of a Skylake CPU is a good combo as well. Cyril Belikoff, senior director of Surface marketing for Microsoft claims that the value of the Surface Pro for business customers comes from the money they can save by buying the product.

This removes the need for a pricey laptop or iPad and offers full Office and desktop apps, as well as strong security, according to the same official. Keep in mind we’re still waiting on the iPad Pro to make a mark and only the holiday season results and early 2016 will tell us who won. Microsoft is in the meantime due to report its first quarter 2016 fiscal earnings two days from now, with the past quarter bringing solid Surface earnings.
