According to a recent study made by Strategy Analytics, it seems that the market for application processors for tablet devices fell 6% in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same 1st quarter from 2014. Apparently, the tablet application processor market was worth just a seventh part of the processors sold for mobile devices.
Among the top five application processor vendors by revenue we have Apple, Qualcomm, Intel, MediaTek and Samsung on the last place. Apple leads the top AP market with a 28% revenue share, while Qualcomm got 19% revenue share. On the 3rd place is Intel with a 16% revenue share.
In the same time we get to know that Android-based tablets accounted for over 70% of Intel’s total tablet application processor sales during this first quarter. Strategy Analytics expects that the Atom X3 CPU to help Intel keep its actual position on the tablet market.
