Samsung, the world’s largest flat display panel maker is now trying to expand its reach, but not by incorporating new units. They are supposedly negotiating the sell of the e-reader display to Amazon, since they’ll make better use of it.

We all know that e-readers are dying and their popularity has been dropping, as tablets become cheaper and use new technologies. They are also excellent e-reader replacements, that can do a lot more. Samsung bought Liquavista 2 years ago, a Dutch company that makes display panels based on electrowetting technology and are used on e-readers.

Now that segment may go to Amazon and Bloomberg claims that Sammy paid less than $100 million for the company initially, so it will probably sell it for less, but still dozens of millions of dollars should be in the mix. What will Amazon make of the technology once it gets it?
