As Samsung is preparing the global rollout of its latest Galaxy Tab A tablets, they’re also releasing Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates to the last gen slates. Today we learn that the Galaxy Tab A models from last year are now getting said update.
Owners of the Tab A will jump to Android 6.0.1, with build number T550XXU1BPE1 and we’re talking about the 9.7 inch model here, that scored nicely in our review, particularly in the battery area. The update brings useful features like Google Now on Tap, the useful Doze, to make the battery even more generous and improved permissions management.
The updates can come either over the air or via the Samsung Smart Switch software on the PC. You can also download it manually via firmware, from here for example. Even more devices will be updated over the next weeks, as we get closer to the store dates of the new Tab A 2016 models.
