It’s only now that owners of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet are getting the long awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, as expected. The carrier has started rolling out the update and it’s now available for owners of the device.

The interesting bit here is that the update is not coming over the air, instead you will have to use the old fashioned way. That involves a Windows PC or a Mac computer, that also has Samsung Kies available. The tablet that the people have right now should have the baseband version I497UCALJ3 and once the Jelly Bean update is done, the baseband will become I497UCUAMF2.

The software update brings customizable widgets, improved text input and spell check and new dictionaries. There’s also better web browsing, better email management, improved security options and Google Now with enhanced voice activation. Samsung claims that paired Bluetooth devices will be removed by the update and home screens will be reset.
