Most of us thought that 5.3 or 5.5 inches were the perfect diagonal for a phablet, so Sony’s 6.44 inch Xperia Z Ultra feels like an exaggeration and partially the Note 3 also seemed like one, at 5.99 inches. Now there’s a fresh batch of rumors, saying that the diagonal is actually smaller.
Behind the scenes Samsung is actually preparing a 5.7 inch phablet, one that will debut in early September at IFA 2013. The famous leakster @evleaks got information from his sources, saying that the diagonal is legit and this size seems more reasonable. Samsung could make the bezels smaller and keep the same measurements of the Note II, or even make the device more compact.
I’m actually waiting for a surprise here, either from the RAM department (3GB?) or from the resolution, that may get past Full HD this time. A small bump to 1920 x 1200p wouldn’t hurt anyone, especially since rumors are predicting a jump to 2560 x 1600 next year. The S Pen is also expected to get some upgrades of its own.
