Xiaomi expanded its tablet lineup with some Redmi models earlier this year and now it’s bringing them to Europe. Two such models reached the EU space over the past week, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 and the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G. They are obviously budget offerings, detailed below, according to Mobilissimo.ro.

Of course, they also share specs, aside from the whole 4G thing. The tablets share an 8.7 inch screen with up to 600 nits of brightness and a 1500:1 contrast ratio. There’s also 10 bit color depth, 1 billion colors and a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz, for smooth scrolling and maybe even some gaming. These devices are optimized for comfortable reading and come with a 5:3 aspect ratio.

They also offer two reading modes: Paper and Classic. They come with TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free certifications, as well as DC dimming to reduce eye strain. Both these models are pretty light and slim, for the budget segment. The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 measures 8.8 mm in thickness and weighs 373 grams, while the 4G version weighs 375 grams.

Inside we find an octa core MediaTek Helio G85 processor and a 6650 mAh battery with support for up to 18W fast charging. There are 3 configs available: 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB + 128 GB and 6 GB + 128 GB. Camera-wise, things are pretty predictable: 8 MP back and 5 MP front, plus we end the specs list with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

There’s also an audio jack, Wi-Fi 5, Fm radio and Android 14 with HyperOS on top. The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G adds dual SIM card slots. There’s even an accessory: the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 Cover, with a leather shell and a metal rivet wristband. The cover includes a hand strap. The WiFi model is priced at 139 euros and the 4G one at 179 euros.
