Northern Ireland Water will be equipping 500 of its field engineers with Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 tablets, in order to improve mobile working and increase productivity. The devices will be integrated into the 500 vehicle fleet that the company has available.

The new Toughpad tablet will replace the already rugged Panasonic CF 19 laptops, used for the past 7 years. The new ToughPad tablet has received high scores at the open days, pilot sessions and communications test. The products will come with Windows 8.1 Pro, with mobile work management, route optimization and GIS map applications, plus specialist leak detection and pressure measurement software.

Toughpad FZ-G1 is the first rugged Windows 8 Pro tablet and we mean fully rugged, able to withstand various rough conditions. This model weighs 1.1 kg, packs a 10.1 inch multitouch display and a digitiser pen with support for signature recording. The slate supports a Full HD resolution, has very wide view angles and strengthened glass. This model packs an Intel Core i5 CPU, USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, Ethernet, microSD card slot, 3G Gobi and Bluetooth.
