It appears that Google choosing HTC to develop its Pixel phones didn’t sit well with Huawei, that had a Nexus tablet ready and brewing for the big G. Now it appears that the slate has been canned because of the two companies not getting along.
Huawei apparently turned down Google for the Pixel contract, when they heard that the Huawei logo wouldn’t appear on the device. And then the Nexus 7 2016 tablet was out of the picture, too. This all comes from a report that surfaced online recently and apparently, Huawei’s VP of Consumer Business Group, Colin Giles confirmed the information himself.
This may have disappointed some fans, since the future of all Nexus slates and products remains uncertain. Previous speculations and leaks even saw the Nexus 7 2016 running the brand new Andromeda OS, a hybrid between Android and Chrome OS and packing a Snapdragon 820 CPU. It would also received 64 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM and an USB Type C port. Well, maybe next year, when Andromeda will be ready?
