In a couple of days the new Chinese Lunar year starts and with it we’ll see a ton of price cuts and reductions. Discounts will be found all over the place, including on GearBest, that has slashed prices already for its slates. They include devices for kids and some for productivity.

The year of the Rooster starts with discounts, some even past 50%. One of the most interesting products affected by these offers is the Nabi JR, a kids tablet, that’s priced at $39.99, after a 33% cut. It’s a Nvidia Tegra 3 machine, with an orange silicone case, that protects it from drops, but also from… chewing, because let’s face it, some kids like to chew on their tablets.

It has a rotating lens camera, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, plus Android 4.1 as the OS.

Then there’s the Chuwi LapBook Notebook, a 14.1 inch Windows 10 machine, fully capable of replacing a laptop. It ships with Windows 10 and an Intel Apollo Lake Celeron N3450 processor, priced at $247.99, after a price cut of 29%. There’s HDMI on board, a 2 MP front camera and 4 GB of RAM, plus support for up to 8 GB of RAM, if you want to add more.

The screen is a 14.1 inch Full HD unit and the battery is a 9000 mAh model.

Finally, there’s the Teclast X89 Power Tablet, a dual boot affair with Windows 10 and Android 5.1 in the mix. It’s a classic Intel Cherry Trail device, with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, all of that priced at $91.99. There’s also a microSD card slot, HDMI and the screen is an 8 incher with Full HD res. This is possibly one of the most affordable 8 inch Full HD tablets on the market.
