Word’s out that Archos will launch two new Android tablets soon, while the famous Archos 5 Android tablet will get a firmware update. The info comes from Germany, Archos’ German PR firm to be more precise. We knew that Archos 7 was in the making, but what about the other model?

Speculations claim that this will be the Archos 9 slate, also with Android and with unknown specs yet. As far as the Archos 5 update is concerned, this will bring a couple of improvements to the device, like extended Bluetooth support for handset tethering and better handling of WMV9-HD video files.

The same upgrade brings a system monitor app shutting down background software or services and freeing up memory without affecting other running apps.
