Motorola may have been the first with an Android 3.0 tablet, but they won’t settle with that premiere… They also want to be the first to launch a rugged Gingerbread slate, if the recent rumors we’ve heard are true. This model will be an enterprise-friendly unit, rugged enough to withstand a good beating.
Since this is a rugged Moto device, we can’t help but think about the Motorola Defy and the fact that this may be its “tabletized” version. As far as specs are concerned, rumors say that we’ll be seeing a dual core 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. HDMI, a 1.3MP front cam and 8MP back cam are also on board.
Bluetooth, WiFi a/b/g/n and USB will handle connectivity and it seems that beta testing of the slate will begin in October, so we might be dealing with a 2012 product here. Will anyone still be interested in an Android 2.3 tablet by then? We’ll probably have Android 3.2 out by then, or something like it…
