Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition are the talk of the town lately and they were even before they were announced by their maker. The reason was a series of leaks, that revealed to us the design of the devices. This week we also found out the official names of the new tablets, that will make up the new Xyboard series.

And now we have a fresh picture of the Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2, that apparently is the name of the 8.2 inch Media Edition Xoom tablet that will be sold by Verizon Wireless. The other device, the one with a 10.1 inch display will be solder under the name Droid Xyboard 10.1. If you’re wondering what’s behind the branding, I guess that it’s just another way to say “cyborg”, but in a more modern way, that involves a tablet experience.

The idea here is to get rid of the Xoom branding, that’s the symbol of the poor sales for both Motorola and Verizon. About 100k units were sold of the first Honeycomb tablet, so that’s a real shame of the Xoom. Maybe the follow-up will be better…
