Before Windows 8 was launched there was a rumor that Microsoft was going to unify Windows Phone 8 with Windows 8 and create Windows Phone 9/Windows 9 from that union, with the new OS being the same thing on mobile and PC. Now the rumor is back thanks to a recent job listing uncovered by WMpoweruser.
They found a job posting saying that Microsoft is looking for someone “to help our team bring together the Windows Store and Phone development platforms”. The idea is that the code someone writes for Windows Store apps can work on Windows Phone and vice versa. Cross platform app development sounds like a good idea and considering that the kernel from Windows RT and the one from Windows Phone have elements in common, it seems like a likely pairing, if you ask me.
Interest in Windows Phone could increase, since seeing a WP app reaching full Windows may sound like a much bigger deal for a developer. Unifying Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone 8 sounds like a plan for Microsoft, with Xbox Live also integrated somewhere in the middle.
