A phone or watch can already serve as a home-control remote, but LG’s new Apple Home accessories aim to make it a more direct part of everyday routines. The seven-product range includes security cameras, a wired video doorbell, a smart deadbolt, a thermostat, and a temperature sensor, all developed with Apple from the hardware and software design stages.
For Apple device users, the central promise is fewer separate smart-home apps and accounts. Apple says the accessories can be set up and controlled in the Home app without requiring a separate account or companion app. LG also lists ThinQ support, so the products are intended to sit between Apple’s home ecosystem and LG’s own platform.
A smart lock built around Apple Wallet
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses an Apple Wallet home key along with ultra-wideband technology for hands-free unlocking with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. Rather than requiring the homeowner to take out a device, the lock can recognize an authorized user approaching the door. NFC tap-to-unlock, a PIN, and a physical key remain available as backups for household members and guests using different devices.
LG’s indoor camera takes a more visible approach to privacy. The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160-degree field of view and a mechanical tilt function that points the camera downward when monitoring is not wanted. Apple and LG describe automations that could, for example, adjust the thermostat and tilt the camera down through a “Good morning” command.
At the front door, the wired LG Video Doorbell uses two cameras: a 2.5K front-facing camera for visitors and a Full HD lower camera intended to cover delivered packages. It also supports two-way audio, while alerts can play through HomePod, HomePod mini, and Apple’s HomeView hub.
Seven devices, from $39.95 to $399.95
| Product | Primary role | U.S. price |
|---|---|---|
| LG Indoor Cam Plug-In | Indoor 160-degree camera with privacy tilt mechanism | $199.95 |
| LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In | Outdoor 2.5K camera with color night vision | $299.95 |
| LG Floodlight Cam | Outdoor camera with two motion-activated floodlights | $399.95 |
| LG Video Doorbell Wired | Dual-camera doorbell for visitors and packages | $249.95 |
| LG Smart Deadbolt Lock | UWB lock with NFC, PIN, and physical-key access | $349.95 |
| LG Smart Thermostat | Heating and cooling control with Apple Adaptive Temperature | $199.95 |
| LG Temperature Sensor | Additional room temperature and humidity readings | $39.95 |
The smart thermostat can respond to states such as being home, away, or asleep, while the separate temperature sensor supplies readings from other rooms. That sensor alone does not create independently controlled temperatures in each room; the result still depends on the heating and cooling equipment connected to the thermostat.
Camera buyers should also account for Apple’s service requirements. Apple says the monitoring features and 10-day video history described for these products require a home hub and a compatible iCloud+ plan. Local storage is designed to keep recording during a Wi-Fi outage, and Apple says Home data is end-to-end encrypted. The cameras therefore avoid a separate camera subscription, but they still depend on an eligible iCloud+ tier for the specified video features.
Availability remains staggered
LG says sales will begin in December in the United States and Canada. Apple also lists the United Kingdom for the cameras and doorbell, while noting that some accessories will not reach stores until early 2027. The LG lock, thermostat, and temperature sensor are initially planned for the U.S. and Canada.
For households already relying on an iPhone, Apple Watch, HomePods, and the Home app, the collection offers a more unified route into locks, climate control, and home monitoring. The remaining considerations are the iCloud+ requirement for camera history, a compatible home hub, and the still-staggered rollout of the full lineup.
