If you’re in the market for an e-reader to enjoy your books in the hammock during the holidays, Kobo has something fresh for you. It’s the brand new Kobo Clara HD e-reader, priced at $130 and shipping from June. It’s going to ship in June in the US, UK and Canada, plus a few more nations.

The device comes with an e-ink screen, that has the advantage of lower power usage and being easier on the eyes in the long run. Comfy hours of reading are promised here and this product comes from under the wing of Japanese publishing giant Rakuten. The Kobo Clara HD has a 6 inch screen with 300 dpi and comes with the ComfortLight Pro, which is a feature that spreads light evenly across the display, reducing the eye discomfort of blue light exposure during night time reading.

The product stores up to 6,000 ebooks with its 8 GB of storage and offers weeks of battery life. It can also sync up with the free Kobo app, available for smartphones and tablets. The product is up for preorder right now. At $129.99, this is $10 more than the Aura Edition 2, the current 6 incher from Kobo, with a 212 ppi display.

Kobo’s newcomer has WiFi b/g/n and a microUSB port. It offers support for 14 types of formats, going from EPUB to PDF and from MOBI to CBR. 11 fonts and 50 font styles are support. No trace of a microSD card slot here, or waterproof case. It weighs just 5.9 ounces though.
