Over the past 24 hours, Apple’s long leaked iOS 13.4 software has bene released, after 5 betas. It brings some enhancements that may make iPad owners feel that they truly have a laptop replacement. iOS 13.4 came with iPadOS 13.4 and we have the details below.
Any iPad that’s compatible with iPad OS 13.4 will now be able to use a mouse with a pointer icon on the iPad screen. It also works with third party Bluetooth and USB keyboards and mice, not just the Magic Mouse and Magic TrackPad. iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 also bring 9 new Memoji Stickers, pus improvements related to the Mail app and keyboard shortcuts. I’ll remind you that iPadOS 13.0 introduced mouse support, but iPadOS 13.4 changes the game, closer to the desktop action. Apple unveiled the trackpad support for iPadOS when it announced the two new iPad Pro models last week. It’s also going to sell a special Magic Keyboard for them with a build in trackpad, so there’s no need to look for a special accessory of that type.
The cursor shown on the screen will change depending on what you’re hovering over. It also disappears and highlights the button you’re ready to activate. If one is moving a text cursor, it becomes a vertical bar. A text zone in a Pages document becomes two arrows. There are also bug fixes and security patches. Compatible devices go from iPad Pro 9.7 inch to the latest models from this year. There’s also the iPad Air 3rd gen, iPad Air 2, iPad 5th and 6th gen, lus iPad Mini 4 and 5.
