We’ve detailed the possibility of an iPad Mini in early 2012 here and now the story comes back with a few more details. This time it seems that Apple placed an order for screen panes that are 7.85 inches in size. Orders were placed to LG Display and AU Optronics, so we might see an iPad mini after all.
Inside sources say that Apple already decided what the specs on the newcomer slate will be and that it’ll compete with the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire, HTC Flyer and Huawei MediaPad. The resolution will be the same one as the iPad 2’s and the product will ship early next year. A new and smaller model might also mean a budget price for the Apple product, but we know that this company isn’t very fond of giving budget prices to its devices…
The upside here is that the new tablet will be more portable and more user-friendly, plus it will give the customer more variety to pick from. It could all be a rumor, of course, but one that sounds good and looks like something Apple would do. Will they follow the Samsung way and also enter the 5 inch, 4 inch and 11 inch diagonal markets?
