The news of the day may be that the boss of Foxconn confirmed the Apple television set, but also yet another leak in the iPad Mini case. The device is now supposed to launch in October and get a price somewhere between $200 and $250, according to a fresh report.
Previous reports said that an iPad with a 7.85 inch display is in the works and it will launch in Q3 or Q4 this year. Now Apple watcher iMore is backing up the rumors and the site has a good track of reporting accurate info on unlaunched Apple products before. Now they say that the new slate will look just like the current 9.7 inch iPad, but only smaller. It will also support a pretty unbelievable resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels, that’s exactly the one of the Retina Display on the iPad 3.
If the report from iMore is real, the new tablet will finally be a decent response to that menacing Amazon Kindle Fire, that sold so many units that it even scared Google into making a cheap Nexus tablet. However, as I’ve said before, I really don’t see Apple selling “a product for the masses”, like the new iPad would be at this price tag.
