Apple is still prepping new iPads, it seems and why wouldn’t they, since the tablets have been growing quite a bit this year. The pandemic saw a lot of people resorting to slates for their educational and work from home needs. Apple refreshed the entire iPad lineup in 2020, minus the smaller slates. An alleged leak does talk about the iPad Mini 6th gen and you can learn the info below.

The tipster behind the leak tells us that there are already many iPad Mini 6 prototypes out there and this is just one of them. The final product may differ. According to Twitter user @000leaker, quoted by NotebookCheck, Apple is preparing an iPad Mini 6 with a larger 8.5 inch Liquid Retina Display, compared to the 7.9 inch panel of the current gen model. It keeps the boxy design of the new iPhone 12 series, in itself inspired by the iPhone 4/5 and also sprinkles some iPad Air 4th gen iPad Pro influences.

It also switches to an USB-C port, following the route of the iPad Pro and iPar Air. Another change is inside, where we find the new and powerful Apple A14 processor, paired with 4 GB of RAM. The stereo speakers are the same ones compared to the old model. The prototype is also said to have a dual battery, the same camera as the new iPad Air and support for Apple Pencil 2nd gen. The leaksters also brought up some performance issue on account of the dual battery inside.

Apple is expected to fix those and finalize the prototype for a potential Spring 2021 debut. That’s when we could also see the first 5G iPad.
