Intel has reported its third quarter 2014 revenue, reaching $14.6 billion, with an operating income of$4.5 billion and net income of $3.3 billion. The company also generated $5.7 billion in cash from operations and paid dividends of $1.1 billion.
The chipmaker used $4.2 billion to repurchase 122 million shares of stock and this new comes after a few days ago we heard that the mobile area of Intel was generating a loss of around $1 bilion. Other segments are still profitable, with the PC Client group reaching $9.2 billion, an increase of 6% sequentially and 9% on year. Meanwhile, the Data Center group reached $3.7 billion, an increase of 5% from last quarter and 16% on year.
Finally, the Internet of Things was at $530 million in revenue, down 2% from last quarter, but up 14% on year. The Mobile and Communications group that we mentioned above reached merely $1 million, as expected. The software and services operating segments also stood at $558 million, up 2% sequentially and 2% on year. Intel is still making a lot of money and breaking records, in spite of its mobile division burning a hole in its pocket. Still, that’s an issue that must be fixed…
