InkBook Infinity is yet another E Ink based tablet, one that comes with a 10.3 inch screen and it’s supposed to launch soon. Right now it’s the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, where it’s available for preorder. Early bird backers are getting a 30% discount off the list price, even though the exact sum isn’t even known yet.
You can sign up on the InkBook Infinity website, to be notified when the whole campaign goes live. The device packs an E Ink display with a 227 ppi density, a capacitive touchscreen for navigation and also a stylus, which you can use for writing and drawing purposes. The device weighs just 12 ounces and comes with an NXP i.MX6 Solo Lite processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.
It also has a microSD card reader with support for up to 32 GB of removable storage, as well as an USB Type-C port, WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. InkBook Infinity relies on a 3000 mAh battery, which is pretty big as far as e-readers are concerned. The design of the back side actually feels kind of badass, rugged almost, I’d say. This thing runs on the pretty old OS Android 4.4.2 and while is no Kindle or Sony machine, it may tempt some buyers.
E Ink has been evolving for years now, moving from the business of reading to the business of writing and drawing. And we’re still waiting on the color E Ink to go mainstream.
