A few days ago we wrote that Huawei was bringing a special tablet to India and speculated it may in fact be the MediaPad T5. Turns out we were spot on, as the device has been confirmed for an Indian release by Huawei India itself.
We would have expected the recently unveiled MediaPad M6 to reach India, but the MediaPad T5 will do for now. This device came about a year ago to China, packing a 10 inch Full HD screen and a Kirin 659 CPU, which we also found on the Huawei P20 Lite. The device had Android 8.0 Oreo and GPU Turbo tech. Hopefully by now it has been updated to Android 9.0 Pie and a new EMUI.
It also came in 2 GB or 3 GB RAM versions and with 16 or 32 GB of storage, as well as a microSD card slot. There’s a 5 MP back camera in the mix, plus a 2 MP shooter as well. At this price point and a year ago, it was still OK for the slate to have a microUSB port. Considering how late to the party this release is, I expect the price to be low, perhaps below $200.
Hopefully the MediaPad M6 reaches India faster, especially since those devices have quad speakers and powerful Kirin 980 CPUs.
