Huawei is gearing up for a major launch event on November 25 in China, where the Mate 80 series and the Mate X7 foldable are expected to take center stage. But they won’t be alone. According to new leaks, Huawei is also preparing a high-end 2-in-1 machine called the MatePad Edge — a device positioned somewhere between a flagship tablet and a lightweight productivity laptop.

Huawei’s upcoming hybrid appears to be a significant evolution of its earlier MateBook E lineup, trading Windows for HarmonyOS and adopting a more tablet-forward identity. Tipster Digital Chat Station claims the MatePad Edge will ship with a 14.2-inch OLED display, a Kirin 9-series processor, stylus support, and a detachable keyboard. Color options reportedly include Moonlight Silver and Space Gray — familiar territory for Huawei’s premium hardware.

A second leak from UncleShan adds more texture: the MatePad Edge 14.2 is said to use a dual-fan cooling system, suggesting the Kirin chip inside will aim higher than typical tablet silicon. Huawei is positioning the device as a true bridge between its tablet and PC ecosystems, with pricing expected to land in laptop territory. Storage and memory options reportedly include 16GB/512GB and a top-tier 24GB/1TB configuration, along with a matte display variant for users who prefer reduced glare.

If these details hold up, the MatePad Edge won’t just refresh an old product line — it redefines the MateBook E concept entirely. The original MateBook E debuted in 2021 with Windows, followed by the MateBook E Go in 2022. The new model keeps the 2-in-1 DNA but shifts fully into Huawei’s HarmonyOS universe, blurring the line between tablet responsiveness and ultrabook utility.
