The global tablet market is shifting again, with ASUS and Acer becoming more active in the category and Lenovo expanding its gaming tablet lineup alongside Red Magic . One notable development is Huawei’s return to the global top five in the second quarter of 2026.

According to Omdia, the Chinese company accounted for 7.7% of the global tablet market. Apple remained the market leader in Q2, shipping 13 million iPads for a 37.8% share, although its volume was down 7.5% year over year. Samsung ranked second with 5.7 million tablet shipments.

The report’s figures are best read as shipments rather than retail sales, an important distinction when assessing consumer demand. Samsung held a 16.3% share, but its shipment volume declined 13% from a year earlier. Lenovo was the only top-five vendor to post growth, shipping 3.9 million tablets for third place. Its volume rose 27.1% from 2025, giving it an 11.1% share. Xiaomi ranked fourth with 2.8 million units and an 8% share, down 6.8% year over year.

Finally, Huawei took fifth place with 2.7 million units and a 7.7% market share. The company shipped 3.2 million tablets in Q2 2025, when its share was 8.2%, making its year-over-year decline 15.6%. Even so, its top-five position underscores its continued importance in the global market. Overall, the tablet market fell 10% year over year to 36 million units, its first decline of that scale in five years.
